Two Capybaras in Barigui Park
It’s getting chilly in Brazil, the perfect weather for bundling up under a blanket and sipping hot coffee. But that’s not the only thing cool weather is good for. When the temperature drops, Capybaras spend more time on land, making it easier to see and pet them.
Here are three pictures from a few winters ago, when these two capy twins were relaxing in the park, and one wanted tickles.

Urupema, Brazil is often cited as the coldest city in the country. During winter, temperatures can drop below freezing, and there’s a local attraction called Cachoeira que Congela (“the waterfall that freezes”). As the name suggests, it’s a waterfall that occasionally turns to ice during cold spells.
