The Christmas tree still stands in Barigui Park, decorations usually come down around the 10th, as this Capybara happily munches away in the picture’s foreground.

Summer was a scorcher, and the capys seldom left the water during daytime.

A few weeks later, I took a visa run to Posadas, Argentina. This is one of the country’s more tropical cities, located in the ever-fascinating Misiones Province.

The big body of water you see is actually the Paraná River, with the city of Encarnacion, Paraguay resting on the opposite shore.
