A Movable City, For Birds...

As a child, I had an obsession with retrofuturism.

Underwater cities, flying cars, giant zeppelins that doubled as flying aircraft carriers…

One concept that always intrigued me was the idea of a “moving city.”

Open an old Popular Mechanics from the 1960s and you’re bound to see concept art depicting large, tank-like vehicles adorned with high-rises and subdivisions.

I imagine riding on one would feel like being a bird perched atop a Capybara.

French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau believed humanity would colonize the ocean floor by the year 2000. Cousteau even developed the “Conshelf II” project which contained multiple underwater habitats.

Cousteau’s documentary on the project, World Without Sun, won an Academy Award.
