Good morning!!!

Hope you enjoy the capys, cattle tyrant, and great egret in today’s email.

The CapyTube Merch Store Proudly Presents:

The South American Ostrich

While not technically an ostrich, the South American Rhea is pretty similar. And, the rhea is often referred to as a “South American Ostrich,” despite being smaller and having three toes compared to the ostrich’s two.

These large birds are native to Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. There’s also a “Darwin's rhea” variety that is found in parts of Chile and Peru.

While the rhea birds in these photos live in the “Buenos Aires Eco Park,” it is possible to see wild rhea as well. If you’re ever in Argentina and want to take a bus from Buenos Aires to the seaside city of Mar del Plata, you can often spot rhea foraging in the fields along the highway.
