So Many Capys, So Little Space

Capybaras Enjoying A Small Sliver Of Lake Together

In psychology, the bandwagon effect describes the tendency for people to do something simply because it’s popular. It’s a notorious secret weapon across industries like fashion and entertainment, where companies spend billions each year trying to manufacture “cool.”

But the bandwagon effect occurs naturally too, and it isn’t limited to humans.

Here’s a large group of Capybaras inexplicably crammed together in one very small corner of a lake.

It was a sunny day with no obvious threats that would cause them to bunch up. Meanwhile, other capys were happily grazing in the park and lounging out in the open air.

Herd psychology can be pretty amusing, and sometimes it leads to irrationally silly outcomes.

I’d love to discuss this further, but I’ve got to go dust my Beanie Babies and fidget spinner collection before checking whether NFT prices have rebounded. I’m sure they’re all due for a comeback any day now!

Did you know Bossa Nova originated in Brazil?

Here’s a short video of a Capybara grazing to the music of Brazilian jazz-funk group Azymuth. I hope you find it relaxing and enjoyable.
