Huge Herd of Capybaras at Curitiba's "Forgotten" Park

In partnership with

Parque Náutico sits at the edge of Curitiba. It’s a nice place and doesn’t get as much attention as the larger, better-known Parque Barigui.

If you’re ever in town on a weekend and want to avoid the crowded parks while still seeing Capybaras, this is one of your best options.

On a Sunday visit, yours truly saw plenty of capys.

Here’s a smaller group of young Capybaras breaking away from the larger herd.

Where are they going? To another large group, of course.

Parque Náutico is a great spot for Capybara lovers, and there are a few other nearby activities that make the trip worthwhile as well. There’s the local zoo, some good restaurants nearby, and plenty of cool hills and mountaintops if you enjoy hiking and scenic views.
