Lettuce Celebrate

Feeding Some Very Hungry Capybaras!

Two days into spending time with the Paraguayan Capybaras and I noticed that, due to the cold weather, there’s not much grass in the local park.

The capys were nibbling on stubble and weeds. So, I ran over to the nearest grocery store and bought a few heads of lettuce. In Curitiba, the Capybaras have no interest in eating anything other than the native grass in their park. But these Paraguayan capys were hungry. And they were happy to have the extra food.

This is actually the first time I’ve ever fed a Capybara.

And, the capys are really enjoying, and benefiting from, the extra food!

Mandy The Mandioca Bara

Mandioca is the Spanish name for cassava. And one of the local Capybaras really likes cassava. I’ve nicknamed her “Mandy,” short for “Mandioca“ and I thought you might enjoy this picture of her devouring some tasty cassava root!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
