June Showers Bring December Flowers

Capys In The Rainy Season

It’s the rainy season here in Brazil. And that means a deluge of water daily.

Sometimes it rains so hard that the bike paths and walking trails are completely submerged in water. Yet the capys persist and weather the storm.

Sometimes they huddle together for warmth.

Sometimes they hop in the lake to avoid icy rain storms.

And sometimes they just hang out together and make the best of things.

Here’s a big herd of Capybaras relaxing and enjoying themselves in spite of the terrible weather.

Professor Capybara’s Rainforest Fact

While Brazil is famous for the Amazon Rainforest, Southern Brazil (where CapyTube is filmed) is home to the Atlantic Forest.

The Atlantic Forest is enormous and covers parts of Paraguay and Argentina. And in Brazil, the Atlantic Forest runs from Rio Grande do Sul, the country’s southernmost state, all the way up to northern states like Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte.

Although lesser-known than the Amazon Rainforest, the Atlantic Forest is beautiful and home to many cool animals, including: toucans; monkeys; and, of course, Capybaras.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
