Cattle Tyrant Jumping Between Capybaras

In partnership with

It’s like the old saying goes: “The ticks are juicier on the other capybara’s back.”

This little cattle tyrant was hard at work, hopping between capybaras and cleaning bugs out of their fur.

The cattle tyrant, while often found following large herds of cattle, is also perfectly happy living in urban areas—as long as there are capys or other large mammals it can enjoy a cleaning symbiosis with.

Did You Know…

If I had to pick a Latin American country to live in other than Brazil, I’d choose Mexico. It’s one of my all-time favorite countries, with beautiful beaches, temperate mountains, excellent coffee, and really cool architecture.

The state of Veracruz, Mexico, has some excellent coffee and cafés. Here’s a steaming mug of Cielo Abierto Café being delivered via elevator!

Mexico also has something very few Latin American countries have: 24-hour convenience stores.

OXXO is basically Mexico’s 7-Eleven or Circle K. The chain serves about 13 million customers per day, and 75% of the country’s urban population lives within 1 km of an OXXO store.

Adventures led by women designed to make a difference.

Imagine a vacation that’s not only transformative for you but helps open doors for the local women you meet along the way. That’s what Intrepid’s new Women’s Expeditions in Peru, Cambodia and Bhutan are all about.

Designed specifically for women travellers, these trips offer immersive local experiences that support women-run and owned businesses in each destination. With an expert local leader out front, you could trek the lesser-known Chinchero to Urquillos route in the Peruvian Andes alongside an all-female crew, dive into Cambodia’s street food scene on a women-run tuk tuk tour, or unwind with a traditional herbal hot stone bath at a women-owned farmhouse in Bhutan.

First launched in 2018, Intrepid’s Women’s Expedition range is designed to break down barriers, foster discussion and create meaningful connections for travellers and locals alike.

Thank you for reading, and have a Capy Weekend!
