Cornucopia Of Capybaras

Happy Thanksgiving!

The cornucopia, also known as “the horn of plenty” is a symbol of abundance used throughout the world.

Cornucopias appear on several national seals, including “the National Coat of Arms of the Republic of Peru.” The cornucopia is also a central feature of the Kharkiv Oblast flag in Ukraine.

And two cornucopia’s appear on “the Great Seal of the State of Idaho.”

With the cornucopia also being a symbol of Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fun to share this picture containing an abundance of Capybaras who are all feasting on their favorite meal — grass!

Did You Know…

The cornucopia has appeared frequently on coins and currency throughout history. Countries such as Algeria and Italy, as well as institutions like the Bank of Upper Canada, have all issued coins featuring this symbol of abundance.

By contrast, the earliest U.S. penny, often referred to as the “Franklin Cent,” carried a very different message. Instead of a horn of plenty, it displayed a sundial reminding holders that time is limited. And at the bottom of the coin is an inscription reading, "Mind Your Business."

Thank you for reading and have a great day!
