The capys were out in full force yesterday as they grazed along a local bike path.

Here’s a closer look at these Capybaras as they ate grass and relaxed under the afternoon sun…

The capys drew a lot of attention. Yet, these magnificent creatures remained unfazed as park-goers stopped to snap pics and admire the herd.

A Fun Urban Design Detail

I love Curitiba and moved here before I ever knew what a Capybara was. Curitiba is often considered to be one of the best designed cities in the world.

One interesting detail is that many crosswalks downtown, and also near Barigui Park, have a light strip embedded in the curb. This light glows red for “Do Not Walk” and changes to green for “Walk.”

Maybe that’s a detail other cities have or that you’ve seen before. But it was new to me and I thought it it would be cool to share!
